Install Search Picker

Search Picker is not on the Chrome Web Store yet. Until it is, you install it from the file below, which takes about a minute. Chrome will show it as an unpacked extension and will remind you about developer mode each time it starts. That is normal for an extension installed this way and it stops once there is a listing.

Get the file

Download Search Picker 1.5.0

ZIP, 68 KB, built 31 August 2026. Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and any other Chromium browser.

Install it

  1. Unzip the file. You will get a folder with manifest.json inside it. Keep that folder somewhere permanent: Chrome loads the extension from where it sits, so deleting it later uninstalls the extension.
  2. Open a new tab and go to chrome://extensions.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, the switch in the top right corner.
  4. Click Load unpacked, top left, and choose the folder you unzipped. Search Picker appears in the list.
  5. Click the puzzle piece in the toolbar and pin Search Picker, so the icon stays visible.

Connect it to your account

  1. Open your dashboard and copy your API key from the Browser extension card. Create an account first if you do not have one.
  2. Right click the Search Picker icon in the toolbar and choose Options.
  3. Paste the key into Your API Key and click Save. It syncs straight away.

Use it

  1. In the address bar type s, press the space bar, then a shortcut name, then Enter. The space is what hands the address bar over to Search Picker.
  2. On any page, press Ctrl + Shift + Y to open the picker, or click the toolbar icon to save the page you are on as a new shortcut.
